I always get excited when I am asked to shoot a wedding at Tunnels Beaches. It has to be one of the coolest venues in Devon and maybe one of the most unique in the whole of the UK. Imagine your guests walking down the ancient hand carved tunnels to be wowed by that stunning coastal view and the beaches just a few steps below the beautifully modern, purpose built venue. Just lush.
I am a documentary wedding photographer based in Devon and I love a little jaunt up to North Devon to photograph happy people here.
Tunnels Beaches is quite a large venue so you can fit plenty of guests. Check out their website for more information but you can have at least 120 guests seated in the day and more in the evening to continue the party. They have about four properties for accommodating guests and getting ready in and they are all stunning.

Tunnels beaches weddings are always so unique, partly because the beach and the sky never look the same from one minute to the next and partly as the weddings themselves reflect the bride and grooms personalities and what they have put into the day. This wedding was full of fun and laughter from the outset, with the bride and groom being such fun loving, laid back and friendly people. You could tell that their friends were really important to them and they made sure to make it a day of lasting memories.
I have always found the staff at Tunnels Beaches to be really accommodating too and the food to be superb, especially if you like BBQ or seafood. If you want a really awesome wedding can’t recommend Tunnels Beaches enough.

As a documentary photographer, I don’t tell people what to do on the day, I let things unfold naturally, let people interact in their own ways and I am always there ready to capture the hilarity or the beautiful moments that always appear. I would say my style of images is a mixture between the beautiful and the happiness, capturing the real feeling of the day. I work hard not to miss all the moments, big or small, and make photos of everything including all the little details and important family photos.
Group photos do need a little organising and I like to do them in an efficient but relaxed way. With couple photos, instead of stiff poses, I direct my couples to be together and be themselves so that their photos are a true reflection of them and how they are together, and always try to catch those amazing unplanned little moments. It’s always good fun to do and a nice little break from the crowds.

As a setting you can’t get much better than this. The tunnels are magical and the beach is so atmospheric, whatever the weather. Oh and did you see the views?!!!

Large and colourful biodegradable paper confetti is always good for stunning photos and fun moments.

The tidal pool at Tunnels Beaches is a spectacular place for some couple photos. These guys even took their whole bridal party out there and were singing and dancing together at sunset on the edge of the sea. The pools only become visible at certain tide times, which I can help you plan around. As luck would have it at this wedding, the sunset timed itself perfectly to be happening when the pools were at their best. It’s always good to get out for a few couple shots in the best light at golden hour and enjoy the surroundings and nature.

Apologies if I have not tagged the vendors in this post. Please let me know if you were the make up artist, hair stylist, florist or artist.
