I photographed a wedding at Wonwood Barton, near Tavistock in Devon, in the summer and was really impressed with the venue and the relaxed vibe that the couple created. It has a lovely feel to it with rustic barns, nicely done accommodation, long driveway, fields with views and amazing foliage around the courtyard.
Isabella and Max had a super relaxed wedding there, with only immediate family present at their intimate ceremony in the orchard and then all the guests arriving afterwards for a reception in the courtyard, old school marquee and grounds. Their dogs are really important to them and were present at the ceremony and some of the reception which was a lovely addition. I love a wedding with dogs there, and its great that Wonwood Barton are encouraging of that.
As an environmentally aware couple, Isabella chose her gorgeous floral dress from a well known sustainable brand called The Reformation and even bought it second hand. What a legend. She also let me know about her family heirloom ring that was very special to her so I made sure to get some good shots of that. Their family have their own bee hives and had made their own honey as wedding favours and even brewed their own honey beer. Impressive.
They ran their own bar in the beautiful courtyard (no corkage fees here as a big pro) and had local caterers helping with canapes and then a pizza van in the evening (Pizza a Legna).
Games were played in the field around the marquee where they ate and, in true relaxed wedding form, sat where they liked with no seating plan and danced and partied into the evening with a bluegrass band with the awesome name ‘Old Baby Mackerel‘.
They wanted mainly natural candid style photos of their friends and family enjoying themselves to document the day.
If you are looking for a lovely relaxed devon wedding venue, Wonwood Barton is a great choice.
